The visit of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto to attend Singapore’s National Day celebrations on Saturday left a deep impression on Indonesian students studying in the Lion City. Meeting President Prabowo made them feel closer to their homeland, evoking a sense of being back home in Indonesia. Belinda, Donata, Daniel, and Ardi, students from the Singapore Institute of Management, were among those who had the opportunity to interact directly with the President. For them, the moment was more than just a casual encounter; it served as a heartfelt reminder of their national identity. Meeting their country’s leader while abroad brought a sense of home to foreign soil. Belinda expressed, “This is such a memorable experience – it made me feel so much closer to home, especially in the context of Singapore’s National Day Parade and meeting Pak Prabowo.” The students were grateful for the chance to meet and shake hands with President Prabowo and members of the Kabinet Merah Putih who were present. Donata shared her happiness at meeting President Prabowo again, while another student mentioned the rare opportunity of meeting a President in person for the first time in their life.
