The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has recently suspended the operations of its Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) after discovering substandard food in the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program. Redy Hendra Gunawan, Special Staff to the BGN, mentioned that the affected SPPG units are on hold until a thorough investigation is completed and food samples from the MBG program are fully tested in the laboratory. BGN is working alongside independent institutions, local health and education departments to investigate the root cause of the incident while closely monitoring the health of affected students. The agency expressed sincere apologies to students, parents, schools, and all parties impacted by the unfit food in the MBG Program. Emphasizing zero tolerance for negligence, BGN is committed to ensuring the safety and health of MBG recipients, implementing corrective measures such as stringent partner screening, improved hygiene standards, and the development of SOPs based on best practices. Collaborating with local government authorities, BGN aims to respond swiftly and effectively while learning valuable lessons for future improvements. The agency is dedicated to upholding food safety standards, delivering intended benefits, and urging the continued support and vigilance of all stakeholders for the effective implementation of the MBG Program.
