National Children’s Day in Indonesia is more than just a yearly festivity; it serves as a catalyst for concrete actions in safeguarding the future of the nation’s youth. President Prabowo Subianto has initiated three key programs aimed at enhancing the well-being of children: Nutritious Free Meals (MBG), Free Health Checkups (CKG), and School Revitalization.
Dedek Prayudi, a Senior Expert at the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), emphasized the significance of these programs. MBG goes beyond merely feeding children; it ensures they receive adequate daily nutrition. Research from the Ministry of Health reveals that a significant number of school-aged children attend classes on empty stomachs, leading to issues like lack of focus and fatigue. Skipping breakfast also contributes to iron deficiency anemia, which can negatively impact cognitive abilities.
Aside from MBG, the government is implementing Free Health Checkups to address various health aspects like height, weight, vision, and mental health among students. This initiative aligns with the constitutional mandate to provide accessible healthcare services for all citizens, including children.
Moreover, the School Revitalization Program aims to renovate thousands of schools across Indonesia. President Prabowo has earmarked Rp 20 trillion in the national budget to kickstart this initiative, emphasizing the urgent need to address the numerous schools with structural damage nationwide. Schools in remote areas and densely populated urban centers will receive priority to ensure a conducive and safe learning environment for all students.
These efforts underscore the government’s commitment to the well-being and future of Indonesian children. By addressing issues related to nutrition, health, and educational facilities, President Prabowo aims to create a generation of empowered and healthy individuals who can contribute positively to society.
