Prabowo Supports Brazilian President’s Business Leaders Visit to Indonesia

Prabowo Subianto, President of Indonesia, expressed his enthusiasm for Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s initiative to bring hundreds of Brazilian entrepreneurs to Indonesia. The statement was made after a bilateral meeting between the two leaders at Palácio do Planalto in Brasilia on July 9. Prabowo welcomed the plan, highlighting its potential to enhance cooperation between the two nations, especially in the areas of trade and investment. He emphasized the significance of turning written agreements into tangible partnerships, recognizing the shared interests and resources between Indonesia and Brazil.

During the meeting, Prabowo acknowledged the similarities in size, population, and natural resources between the two countries, underscoring the vast potential for economic collaboration. He praised Brazil’s accomplishments in agriculture and bioenergy, expressing Indonesia’s interest in learning from their advancements. Prabowo also appreciated Lula’s support for Indonesia’s initiative to send technical teams to study Brazil’s agricultural technologies and innovations.

Aside from the bilateral meeting in Brasilia, Prabowo was in Brazil to participate in the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro. President Lula is set to visit Indonesia in October, with Prabowo planning a grand celebration for Lula’s 80th birthday in Jakarta. This visit marks a significant step towards strengthening the economic ties and mutual learning opportunities between Indonesia and Brazil.
