DZ (56), a suspect in the murder of a teenager with the initials AZSN (15) which was covered up by a fire incident on Jalan Sunter Permai Raya, Papanggo, Tanjung Priok, on Friday (2/2), was arrested by the criminal investigation unit of the Tanjung Priok Police Station in North Jakarta.
“The perpetrator was arrested at Sudimara Station on Monday (18/2) as he was about to board a train to Rangkasbitung Station,” said the Tanjung Priok Police Chief, Commissioner Nazirwan, during a press conference in Jakarta yesterday.

He also stated that the perpetrator is the victim’s uncle and committed the murder allegedly because of resentment from being frequently asked to repay debts by the victim’s parents.
The amount of debt demanded by the victim’s parents from the perpetrator was only Rp300,000.
“The victim was hit on the back of the head with a chair and on the ear while studying,” he said.
Nazirwan recounted that initially the perpetrator came to the victim’s house while the victim was studying. The perpetrator asked about the whereabouts of the victim’s parents and the victim answered that they were out.
Subsequently, the perpetrator took a chair and hit the victim who was studying, causing the victim to fall. Finding the victim lying down, the perpetrator turned on the stove and piled up flammable items as a form of distraction.
Then the perpetrator left the victim’s house to flee from the location.
Meanwhile, a neighbor who saw the fire immediately came to the scene to extinguish the fire and found the victim lying down and then took the victim to Sulianti Suroso Hospital.
The police, upon learning of the incident, went to the scene and found several pieces of evidence both at the scene, the victim’s house, and the hospital.
The police are still investigating whether the incident constitutes premeditated murder. “We are still investigating this case,” he said.
The perpetrator is charged under articles 351 and 338 of the Criminal Code as well as Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection with a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison. (JR)
