JAKARTA RAYA- Persija Esports has announced its decision to participate in the Mobile Legends Development Liga Indonesia (MDL ID) Season 9, which is scheduled to start on March 2, 2024. This move marks the team’s expansion into the realm of MLBB after previous success in Valorant and PUBG Mobile divisions.
Kris “Lionheart”, the coach of Persija Esports, explained their choice to join MDL Season 9, stating that MDL is seen as the appropriate and right first step in their journey towards MPL. In an interview with Esports.id team, Kris explained, “Let’s try first in MDL, which is the most proper and closest, MDL is the first step towards MPL. So maybe in the future, hopefully we can reach MPL. Maybe if lignas is still far away, so we don’t know if we can dive in or not, the important thing is to focus on MDL Season 9 first.”
He also mentioned that Persija Esports is not ruling out the possibility of buying a slot in MPL ID. When asked about expectations, Kris hopes that his team can perform as well as possible, bring a new color to the competition, and at least be able to reach the semifinals. “Being a champion is a bonus, the important thing is that we perform as best as possible, bring a new color to the new competition and certainly if we can pass the playoffs and then the semi-final if we can reach the grand final is better. But personally, because I used to be in ONIC and reached semi-finals twice, my hope is at least in the semi-finals with everything new and the preparation is somewhat tight, I hope we can speed up and meet expectations.”
