Cirebon – The leader of the Buntet Islamic Boarding School in Mertapada Kulon Village, Astanajapura District, Cirebon Regency, West Java, KH Adib Rofiuddin Izza expressed his support for candidate number 2, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
This support was conveyed directly by KH Adib at the headquarters of the Prabowo-Gibran National Campaign Team (TKN) in the Jakarta area on Wednesday, 3 January 2023.
“Our hope is clear, I have conveyed to Mr. Prabowo before, Mr. Prabowo pays great attention to Islamic boarding schools and to the people,” said KH Adib.
KH Adib is convinced that Prabowo is not a power-hungry figure, because the former Commander of the Kopassus wants to serve the nation more.
“I am sure he does not expect positions, does not expect anything, only one thing is to serve the nation and the state,” said KH Adib.
The charismatic Kiai further denied what had been reported earlier, where the name of the leader of Buntet Islamic Boarding School was mentioned as supporting the Ganjar-Mahfud candidate.
KH Adib emphasized that he has supported Prabowo since the beginning, because he and the Indonesian Minister of Defense have emotional ties.
“That’s the dynamics of politics, but maybe people do not know the emotional connection I have with Mr. Prabowo,” said KH Adib.
In line with this, the Board of Trustees of the Prabowo-Gibran TKN, M Iriawan, expressed his gratitude for the support.
“Of course, I am grateful to him, my teacher, my kiai, from the Buntet Islamic Boarding School, I have been interacting for quite a long time in Buntet when I was there too. Certainly, because this is an extraordinary, old, charismatic Islamic boarding school, and it has a lot of students,” said the man known as Iwan Bule in the same location.
Iwan Bule is confident that this support will strengthen the voice of Prabowo-Gibran, especially in the West Java region, so that they can win decisively.
“God willing, West Java will bring a fairly decisive victory later, we pray. What is clear is that I am thankful to the leader of the Buntet Islamic boarding school for the support for our pair of Prabowo-Gibran, who, God willing, will make Indonesia better, more prosperous, peaceful, and make it a developed country,” he said.
